In terms of natural resources, there are large areas of crop and livestock production and oilseeds production. Fishing on the different rivers is quite active. Timber exploitation has also been on-going, but now seeks to be cut back in order to prevent alteration of the ecosystem and protect the diverse fauna living within the provincial boundaries.

Industrial development is almost zero, but it is expected to gain momentum in the years ahead with the planned integration of the region’s provinces.  The exploitation of oil resources continues.

There is an active exchange of agricultural products and crafts with neighbouring cities and towns, while settlers and informal street vendors also drive business.
